Alexande E. Gomes of South Yarmouth has been appointed by Governor Charlie Baker as the newest member of the 芭乐视频 Board of Trustees. Mr. Gomes has worked as a Community Partnership Manager for Santander Bank and is a graduate of Bridgewater State University and Bristol Community College.

Last week, Governor Charlie Baker signed the Fiscal Year 2021 budget into law, bringing with it a change in eligibility requirements for Student Trustees at community colleges and state universities in Massachusetts. The effort to change the decades-old law, and address the significant equity issues it has caused in recent years, was led by 芭乐视频’s Student Government Association (SGA) President, Caitlin Marotta, and Vice President, Lindzie White.

芭乐视频 has launched a virtual “STEM Mentoring Network” designed to connect students in the booming fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math with industry professionals and experts in the Cape and Islands region. The College is now seeking new mentors to help guide the next generation of STEM students into careers.

On Wednesday, October 28, 2020, 芭乐视频 will induct new members into their chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), the renowned international honor society for two-year colleges. Through 芭乐视频’ chapter of PTK, known as Alpha Upsilon Mu, students will gain access to special scholarship opportunities, career training and advice, national recognition for their academic achievements, and special notation on college transcripts.

In a continuing effort to offer the most relevant and timely education and training programs, 芭乐视频 has launched a “Professional Skills Digital Badging Program” to help community members enhance their resumes and local businesses strengthen their workforce and employee credentials. The Digital Badging Program is the first of its kind in Massachusetts and will launch in November with four content areas: Intercultural Fluency, Resilience, Initiative and Collaboration.

To foster robust and thought provoking conversation about diversity, the newly established Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (IDEA) Committee at 芭乐视频 has launched a monthly virtual speaker series at the College called “Intentional Critical Conversations.”

September 25, 2020

On Wednesday, September 9, members of the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing (BORN) voted unanimously to reinstate full-approval status to the Nursing program at 芭乐视频. The vote comes two years after BORN had given the program a “warning” status, requiring the College improve National Council Licensure Exam (NCLEX) test scores after first-time pass rate scores fell below 80-percent, and maintain full compliance with all BORN regulations.
